Embark on a unique and exclusive experience to explore the heart of Los Glaciares National Park on Lake Argentino. The Glaciares Gourmet excursion is not just a boat tour; it’s an eight-hour trip aboard one of the most comfortable vessels on Lake Argentino, designed to combine the wonder of nature with luxurious service, with explanations from our bilingual (Spanish/English) guides who will surprise you with information and stories about the area.
We’ll sail, among other things, with views of the imposing Spegazzini and Upsala glaciers, and, of course, the majestic Perito Moreno. But the adventure goes even further: we’ll disembark in Bahía Las Vacas and enjoy moments tasting the specialties of our chefs and onboard service, while Patagonia’s most spectacular landscapes pass before your eyes. If you’re a lover of nature and good taste, this is the perfect excursion for you.
Gourmet Glaciers is a full-day tour that will immerse you in the splendor of Patagonia. The adventure begins at Puerto La Soledad, Bahía Tranquila (Punta Bandera), 45 kilometers from El Calafate, with boarding starting at 8:30 a.m. and sailing at 9:00 a.m. Aboard our vessel, you’ll feel safe and comfortable as you venture into the immense Lago Argentino, crossing the narrow Boca del Diablo (the narrowest passage on the lake, approximately 800 meters wide) and exploring the imposing Bahía Escuadra, with views of towering mountain walls and the Condorera (condor nest), cruising the lake with views of old Estancia outposts.
We’ll sail through the Spegazzini Channel, where you’ll be dazzled by the views of the Seco (Totalizador) and Heim glaciers, as well as the impressive Spegazzini Glacier (the tallest glacier in Los Glaciares National Park, with walls that exceed 130 meters in height). We’ll sail toward Las Vacas Bay and disembark at Puesto Las Vacas for a 50-minute guided hike, exploring the flora, fauna, and remains of ancient settlers.
Afterward, we’ll head toward the Upsala Channel, where you’ll have a panoramic view of the Upsala Glacier and its icebergs. During this time, a gourmet lunch will be served (if booked), allowing you to enjoy a delicious meal with an unparalleled view. During the cruise, you can also purchase food, snacks, drinks, and herbal teas, as the boat has a bar. Finally, we’ll sail through the Iceberg Channel to approach the Perito Moreno Glacier from its north face, offering a different and spectacular perspective of this imposing front. Optionally, you can book the drop-off service at Puerto Perito Moreno to visit the Perito Moreno Glacier walkways (descent at approximately 3:45 p.m.) and return to El Calafate by bus. In this case, the walkways will be toured with a bilingual guide. The journey from disembarkation is 2 hours, before returning to El Calafate and arriving at 7:00 p.m. (From May to August, the time spent on the walkways is 1:30 hours due to shorter daylight hours). Those who did not choose to disembark at the walkways continue back on the boat, sailing to Puerto La Soledad, arriving at 5:00 p.m. If you booked the transfer service to El Calafate, the bus will be waiting at the port to take you to your accommodations starting at 6:00 p.m.
The basic rate includes the Gourmet Glaciers Experience Navigation in a Classic Cabin departing from Puerto La Soledad, Punta Bandera area, 45 km from El Calafate (so if you are staying in the town of El Calafate you must take into account the transfer to it, either by hiring our Bus or privately, since there is a parking space).
